Mountain hikes Wetterkreuzspitze (2254m) Trail No. 31

Description

Starting from the terrace of the Kaltenbacher Skihütte hut, follow the trail to the newly created wildlife trail and keep to the right. While enjoying the view of Hubertuskapelle chapel, hike out of the valley until the end and then follow the forest road until you reach the Hochalm pasture – which you will be able to see upon exiting 
a small section of forest directly opposite. Head past a source to the cluster of buildings on the pasture; next to the old stone hut at the very centre stands a signpost pointing straight ahead and up. Featuring a number of wide hairpin bends and a continuous ascent that gets steeper in the final section, the route leads through lush Alpine meadows in bloom and rows of mountain pines en route to the Wetterkreuzspitze peak. Once at the top, you can enjoy a 360° panorama overlooking the Kellerjoch saddle with its small summit chapel, Hochfügen, the upper Zillertal valley, and even the Karwendel mountains. The return journey goes back along the same route.
