Enjoy the village hiking tour in Seefeld: Around the Wildsee, past the Seekirchl and Pfarrhügel. Easy hike with stunning nature and scenic views!
This circular walk takes you to Seefeld’s top highlights – from the peaceful Wildsee and the stunning views at Pfarrhügel (parish hill) to the iconic Seekirchl and the lively pedestrian zone.
The roughly one-hour walk begins at the Seefeld Information Office, right by the train station. From there, you’ll stroll through the pedestrian zone to St. Oswald’s Parish Church – it’s well worth stepping inside this late Gothic gem! Passing the church on the left, the path climbs up to Pfarrhügel, following the Seefeld Kreuzweg with its 14 stations. Once at the top, take in the wonderful view over Seefeld’s rooftops, stretching as far as Germany.
At the summit, the Apostle Circle awaits. Built in 2000, its massive boulders – weighing up to 23 tons – are arranged to depict the Last Supper in a special star alignment. Writer Winfried Werner Linde envisioned this spot as a peaceful gathering place for people of all world religions. On-site info boards provide fascinating details about this unique place.
From Pfarrhügel, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Seefelder Wildsee. It’s the perfect spot to pause and take in the scenery before descending a few steps toward the road. Follow the road briefly toward Hotel Seespitz, then turn right at the mini-golf course. A pleasant lakeside trail soon opens up, passing a playground and the Strandperle restaurant. After a short stretch along the road, the path leads into the beautifully maintained Reither Moor.
Spotlight on climate change: KlimaTop in Reither Moor
A standout feature along the route is the KlimaTop, part of the KlimaAlps project. Eleven info boards along the way explore topics like the lake, the moor, local flora and fauna, and the impacts of climate change. Kids can join Calyx the dragonfly on a fun research adventure, solving riddles to reveal a secret word. You’ll just need a pencil and the activity booklet, available at the Information Office. A fun and educational experience for all ages!
In the forested area around Wildsee, keep an eye out for squirrels – they’re often easy to spot. After some squirrel-watching, the trail continues past Waldbad Café Sonja and the Kneipp facility, leading back to the road at the base of Pfarrhügel. Head up the stairs again, and at the Apostle Circle junction, turn left. From here, you’ll enjoy a great view of the Olympiabad (public swimming pool) and the quaint white Seekirchl, Seefeld’s unmistakable landmark. This charming Baroque chapel, with its idyllic setting, is a true highlight.
The route then takes you along the pool fence down to Seekirchl, where you can soak in the lively atmosphere. From there, you’ll return to the pedestrian zone, perfect for browsing shops or enjoying a bite to eat.
