In Finkenberg, Via Alpina continues directly from the main entrance of the church. Here you follow the signpost in the direction of "Astegg". After a short stretch on the asphalt road uphill, a hiking trail branches off to the left. Here you follow the path with the number 25, whereby it is also possible to walk along the Mariensteig or Wasserfallweg, as both have the same destination. The path leads uphill through the forest and across the meadows and ends exactly at the entrance of the inn "Gletscherblick", which invites you for a second breakfast. Up the stairs and keeping to the right on the road, you continue to follow trail no. 25. Here you now have to follow the asphalt road for a bit, but it offers a wonderful view of Finkenberg and the entire rear Zillertal. Turn-offs over the steep mountain meadows uphill are not advisable! After several hairpin bends, you will reach Gasthof Astegg after about 1 hour. Here you will also find a fountain and you can stock up on water for the steep climb up the Penken. Directly at the farm "Oberegger" the path leads left uphill to the bend in the road. From here, follow trail no. 2 in the direction of Penken and Gschößwand. Again you have to follow the asphalt road for a while, but after the second bend it is replaced by a gravel road. Shortly after the beginning of the gravel road, a path branches off to the left into the forest. Follow this trail uphill through more or less sparse mountain forest, crossing the forest road several times. Finally, you reach a cattle gate and walk the last part across the alpine meadow to the station of the "Penken Express". Continue on the asphalt road to the right, underneath the Penken cable car and directly to the Gasthof Gschößwand, which is wonderfully situated and offers a very beautiful view of the mountain scenery and the Zillertal (1 h 40 min). From here, follow trail no. 24. In front of the Gasthof Gschößwand, turn left uphill briefly, then immediately right onto a trail, initially almost level through beautiful alpine meadows with lots of alpine roses and Swiss stone pines. This is followed by a somewhat steeper and partly a bit damp section downhill, before it then continues slightly downhill in denser forest. After about 30 minutes you reach a forest road, which you cross and continue on the trail to Mösl (1 h 10 min). In Mösl you continue on the asphalt road in the direction of Rastkogelhütte. The trail is numbered 18 and 302A. Follow the road until you reach the rustic Pointalm, then continue on a trail behind the alpine pasture. This soon leads to the forest road to the Rastkogelhütte, which you follow to the stage destination (2 h 30 min). In Mösl, the "Alpengasthof Mösl" offers overnight accommodations for those who want to save the ascent via the Almrundwanderweg to the Rastkogelhütte for the next day.
