Description

This picturesque circular hike leads through the impressive mountain world of Kühtai and passes two idyllic mountain lakes before reaching its climax at the spectacular Finstertal reservoir.

The trail starts directly opposite the Kühtai tourist information centre, behind the Wiesberghaus. Initially, it climbs gently through the alpine landscape and leads to the first highlight of the tour, Lake Hirschebensee (2,164 m), whose clear waters blend harmoniously into the surrounding mountain scenery. The route continues uphill as the view opens up more and more. After a somewhat steeper ascent, you reach the middle Plenderlessee (2,317 m), nestled between gentle mountain slopes and rugged rocks.

The path continues under the chairlift until you finally reach the Drei-Seen-Hütte - an ideal place for a break with a marvellous view of the surrounding peaks. Well fortified, you continue from here to the Finstertal reservoir, the highest reservoir in Kühtai. The huge reservoir impresses with its bright blue water. A breathtaking sight and a lovely place to linger.

There are two options for the way back: You can either follow the tarmac path that leads past the Graf-Ferdinand-Haus back to Kühtai, or you can choose the well-marked and signposted trail that leads across alpine meadows and through rocky sections directly down to Kühtai.
