Mountain hikes The Sellrain Valley Mountain Hut Tour: stage 7

Silz /
Difficulty ratings: difficult
Route length: 25 km
Duration: 9:00 h

Our last day of hiking begins and how could it be otherwise, we can choose: Either over 9 hours to Sellrain or over 11.5 hours to Sellrain. It's now a question of willpower. Because it's beautiful everywhere. Emotionally, we decide on the tour via the Sellraintaler Höhenweg and are back at the starting point in 9 hours.

Tour character

Difficult stage on black mountain paths. Sure-footedness, alpine experience and a very good level of fitness are required. For experienced mountain hikers, there is a high alpine variant of the Sellrainer Hüttenrunde. Here, the route leads from the Westfalenhaus to the Winnebachseehütte in the Ötztal and then on to the Pforzheimer Hütte. And from the Dortmunder Hütte first to the Peter-Anich-Hütte in the Inn Valley and only then to Sellrain.

Description

The grand finale of the Mountain Hut Tour starts from the Dortmunder Hütte mountain hut and leads back to the starting point in Sellrain. First, you hike to the village of Kühtai. This ski resort can be very busy in winter but in summer, it's nice and peaceful.
From there, the route continues down to the Zirmbachalm mountain hut at an altitude of 1,800 metres above sea level and then back up to the Sonnbergalm mountain hut at 1,950 metres above sea level. Finally, you follow the Sellraintaler Höhenwanderweg trail down to the village of Sellrain.
This difficult last stage has an elevation gain of over 800 metres and an elevation loss of 1,950 metres.
Would you like to save yourself the downhill stretch? If so, you can take the "Postbus" bus and enjoy an effortless journey from Kühtai to Sellrain. If you do the whole stage on foot, the walking time is 9 hours.
