We start the Sellrainer Hüttenrunde from an inn - what an auspicious beginning. A beautiful hiking trail through the tranquil Fotschertal valley takes us to the Potsdamer Hütte. Our first overnight destination is a real gem of a hut. The rustic hut parlor with its oriel window and the excellent cuisine make our spirits soar.
Moderate stage on red mountain paths. Sure-footedness, basic alpine knowledge and a good level of fitness are required.
This varied tour forms the first stage of the seven-day Sellrainer Hüttenrunde and leads from Sellrain through the idyllic Fotschertal valley up to the cosy Potsdamer Hütte.
The starting point is 900 metres above sea level at the bus stop at Gasthaus Neuwirt. From here, the trail initially follows the picturesque Fotscher Bach stream, whose clear water and gentle murmur accompany the hike. The gentle ascent leads past the Bergheim Fotsch at 1,500 metres, where you can take a short break.
The actual ascent then begins: the path meanders steadily uphill across alpine meadows and through sparse mountain forest until finally reaching the Potsdamer Hütte at 2,000 metres. Here, hikers can not only enjoy a well-earned refreshment, but also a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain landscape.
The approximately 3.5-hour hike is a perfect introduction to the multi-day Sellrain hut tour and promises an unforgettable first mountain experience.
