Description

This hiking trail features a gentle ascent from the ski hut, leading you through the marmot enclosure and on to the Arbiskopf/Gedrechter junction. The route heads uphill and to the left along a number of wide hairpin bends and beautiful Alpine meadows en route to the chair lift mountain station. From there, you follow a short and steep path to the wooden summit cross atop Gedrechter mountain. This offers wonderful views over the Zillertal valley, the glistening waters of the Drisslkopf reservoir, and the 3000-meter peaks of the Zillertal Alps in the distance. Departing from Gedrechter mountain, head through the romantic and colourful surroundings of the wild Grubachtal valley in bloom. This will bring you to the Hochalm pasture, where you can join the forest road to reach the wildlife trail next to Hubertuskapelle chapel. The wildlife trail then leads gently back to the ski hut and enables visitors of all ages to discover the rich variety of local wildlife.

stop off possibilities: Kaltenbacher Skihütte, Zirmstadl, Platzlalm
