The vulture is waiting at the top, but don't worry, this is a metal bird of prey worth seeing and an artistic welcome for all those who have made it to the vulture summit with its great views!

Tour character

The second highest peak in Tux, the Geier (2,857 m), is a difficult one and is one of the seven most spectacular peaks in the Tux Alps. But in return for the effort, it treats its visitors to an overwhelming view. Experienced mountain hikers can reach the Geierspitze from the Stoankasern mountain dairy in around three hours. The Geier can also be climbed from the Lizumer Hütte.

Description

The tour begins at the Stoankasern alpine hut and cheese dairy (1,984 m). From here, follow trail no. 35, which steadily ascends through the Toten Böden, a high-mountain landscape with a unique atmosphere. After a demanding yet rewarding climb, you reach the turnoff to Junssee at 2,680 m. Junssee is a true natural wonder: only in the height of summer does it remain ice-free; at other times, it often glistens under a layer of ice, nestled amidst the impressive mountain scenery.

After a well-earned break, you return along the same route.
