Description

The first section from Sellrain through Fotscher Valley to Alpengasthof Bergheim is possible by car. From there, the route continues along the Güterweg trail to the Kaseralm mountain hut. Then, either follow the Winterweg trail along the right bank of the Fotscherbach stream, past the Seealm mountain hut and on to the Potsdamer Hütte mountain hut at 2,009 metres above sea level. Alternatively, cross the Fotscherbach stream and follow the Gottwaldweg (Sommerweg) trail to the Potsdamer Hütte along the left bank. The latter is stonier and can sometimes be swampy underfoot but it is shorter and has better views. The Potsdamer Hütte is a DAV (German Alpine Club) mountain hut and is open from mid-June until mid-October.
