Mountain hikes Schleier Waterfall circular hiking route

Going am Wilden Kaiser /
Difficulty ratings: medium
Route length: 5.5 km
Duration: 3:30 h

The veil waterfall of Going, with its sometimes delicate, sometimes dense silver water, is a place of power with a special spirit. From beautiful vantage points, you can even see its veil from behind!

Tour character

The Schleier Waterfall is the highlight of several hikes with different levels of difficulty. Sure-footedness is required for all of them. No problem for climbers who head for the climbing paradise at the waterfall. The Schleierwasserfall loop is particularly beautiful: a moderately difficult hike of 5.5 kilometers over alpine pastures, forest paths and narrow mountain trails. It starts at the Hüttling parking lot in Going and also passes the Stiegenbach Falls.

Description

This tour starts at the Hüttling hiking start point.

Give yourself some time here and have a look at the small chapel, also from inside, and fill your water bottle with fresh Kaiser water from the fountain next door.

The forest road now takes you towards the Wilder Kaiser. When you come to the “Fußweg-Wasserfall-Graspoint” intersection, the trail leads you across Alpine pastures and through the forest and, after about 20 minutes, you continue on the forest road.

A narrow path, which requires a certain degree of surefootedness, now brings you to the Schleier Waterfall, a paradise for climbers. Here at this power place of Going, the waterfall trickles down over the overhanging rock faces, creating a magnificent natural stage set. This is the perfect place for your holiday photo. But also the climbers feel very much at home on the demanding rocks and are constantly looking for new challenges. You might even come across the “Huber Buam” here, a pair of famous extreme climbers.

You carry on past the overhanging rocks heading towards the Stiegenbach Waterfall. From there a path takes you through Alpine meadows and forest to the Graspoint-Niederalm (981 m) where you can take a well earned break. (The Graspoint-Niederalm is not staffed, but bottled drinks are available in the well. Please bring small change).

Suitably fortified, you then hike downhill along the forest road till you come to the Aschinger-chapel, the starting point of your tour.
