Mountain hikes Schatzberg and Joel Spitze

Wildschönau /
Difficulty ratings: medium
Route length: 7.3 km
Duration: 3:00 h

The Joelspitze between Alpbachtal and Wildschönau is known for its beautiful, racy ski slopes. In summer, its grass-green meadows provide panoramic hiking pleasure.

Tour character

The most beautiful way to conquer the Joelspitze: take the cable car in Auffach to the Schatzberg, then follow a gentle high-altitude trail and moderate climbs of just 400 meters up to the 1,964-metre-high Joelspitze. From here you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view from the Karwendel to the Kaiser mountains and the Zillertal Alps. Either return to the Schatzberg mountain station and take the gondola down to Auffach or hike directly to the valley station.

We make a stop on the Joel peak at 1964m to enjoy the peace and take refreshments (please bring a packed lunch with you). The views are of the Karwendel, the Wilder Kaiser and the snow-topped Ziller Alps.
