Description
More than 3000 years ago immense parts of the Tschirgant mountain massively crashed into the valley by blocking the entrance to the Ötztal. Today this wonderful area amidst the densely populated Tyrolean Inntal has become a true nature treasure, almost untouched by men. Two breathtaking loop trails travel straight through this awesome landscape called "Sautner Forchet", which is known for its exciting cultural spots (Kalkofen area, cavehouse, …). Information panels inform about the region's fauna and geology.
Here the description for the red Trail:
Starting at the Kreuzkapelle chapel in Sautens, you follow the road for about 100 m. Then the red trail forks-off into the forest area to the right. A beautiful walking path travels to the Tschirgantblick vantage point. Proceed to the information board about the area's bird species and geological facts. A very recommendable walk especially in spring and autumn. This loop tour is also meant as a geocaching trail with treasure map for children.
Walking time: 1 ½ - 2 hours
