Mountain hikes Ried - Hochalm (1811m) - hiking area Hochzillertal (Nr. 31)

Description

Set off from the centre of Ried (church) and head towards Kaltenbach until you reach the Riedbachbrücke. Before reaching the bridge, turn right and onto the trail through the forest – the trail leads to the Riedberg chapel (Riedbergkapelle) along the Kreuzweg (Way of the Cross). Head from there along the trail until it opens up into the Riedbergstrasse. After a sharp bend (before reaching the Seiten farmhouse), the trail forks off to the left and into a forest road. Continue along the forest road toward the Hochalm pasture until it opens up into the Zillertal High Alpine Road. After walking a short distance on the road, the trail heads back onto a path through the forest. After this section, the trail joins the High Alpine Road. Follow the High Alpine Road past the Bodenangeralm and all the way to the toll station for the Zillertal High Alpine Road. Immediately after passing the toll station, turn right and uphill into the trail heading towards the Hochalm. Departing from the Hochalm pasture, the hiking trail leads via the Hubertus wildlife trail into the upper Zillertal valley hiking area. You can also catch the bus there to return to the starting point.
