Description

The Canticles to Brother Sun by St Francis of Assisi are known throughout the world.

Hubert Flörl, a renowned sculptor erected a series of nine bronze statues on the 'St Francis' Path' leading from Niederau to Oberau in the beautiful Wildschönau Valley. About half way along this path is the prize winning Z'Bach Mountain Farming Museum.

The pleasant walk that runs between the church villages of Niederau and Oberau past the Mountain Farmers Museum shows the verses about the sun, the universe, the wind and the weather, the water, the fire, the world with its seeds and fruits, love and death.

Tip: Every Thursday during summer the craft market takes place in the Bergbauernmuseum from 12.00 - 17.00.

At the end of the Franziskusweg in Oberau is the Steinerhof. The Thaler family is happy to introduce the "Krautinger", the medicine of Wildschönau, during a guided tour and let you taste the "beet" as liquor and as a soup.

Registration is required.  Tel. : +43 (0)5339 2117.

The path is accessible all year round and illuminated at night.
