Description
The hiking tour to our most beautiful mountain lakes. The Seebensee and Drachensee lakes.
A long and physically demanding mountain tour over the Ehrwalder Alm, along the beautiful Seebensee lake to the Drachensee lake, which is beautifully situated at 1900m between impressive peaks.
The hiking and mountain tour starts at the Ehrwalder Almbahn valley station. The Ehrwalder Almbahn also serves as a summer cable car and allows you to shorten the tour by a few kilometers and altitude meters on the way there and back.
At the valley station, take the road (mainly asphalt) or the forest path (gravel path valley descent/ski slope) up to the Ehrwalder Alm (400m ascent). Once there, head south to the Koatiger Weg (behind the Issentalkopf lift, near the valley station).
The first few meters of ascent are a little steeper, then the hiking trail is fairly mellow until you reach the Seebensee lake. Shortly before the Seebensee you will find the Seebenalm hut to the west. A nice opportunity to stop off on the way there or back. Past the Seebensee lake, another somewhat steeper ascent of approx. 200m of altitude awaits you up to the Coburger Hütte. Once there, the serviced hut above the Drachensee awaits you for a refreshment stop. For tough hikers, the lakes with their cold mountain water invite you to cool off.
You can take the same route back, but if you prefer a less demanding option, you can follow the forest road back to the Ehrwalder Alm after the Seebensee lake.
