Description

The Westfalenhaus is a mountain hut in the Stubai Alps and an ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding mountains.

From Lüsens, follow the road along the Melach river to the wide head of the Lüsens Valley. Continue past the bottom of the transport cable car (used to move goods) and the youth centre and then turn right to follow the trail that leads steeply uphill between groups of trees to the Längentaler Almen alpine farm buildings. Cross the Längentaler Bach stream below the mighty rockfaces of the Lisenser Fernerkogel, the mountain that dominates the Lüsens Valley, and continue up the northern side of the slope to the mountain hut.
Return hike: you can hike back along the Sommerweg trail, which leads across the mountain slopes and over several trenches, before leading back through the forest and mountain pines to the starting point.
