Mountain hikes Lechtaler Höhenweg 1st stage: Stuttgarter Hütte-Leutkircher Hütte

Difficulty ratings: difficult
Route length: 7.7 km
Duration: 3:15 h

This stage brings us back to the classic route of the "Lechtaler Höhenweg" and scores points with via ferrata fans, because if you like, you can climb the Weißschrofenkamm via 500 hooks, 1050 clamps and 200 meters of steel cable. Desire or suffering? We decide before the start of the tour. But even without the via ferrata, the stage to the Leutkircher Hütte has plenty of thrills in store.

Tour character

Difficult stage on black mountain paths. The tour requires alpine knowledge, absolute surefootedness and a head for heights. Strength and concentration are required for the climbing passages and steep ascents and descents on paths and over scree. Good physical condition is a prerequisite.

Description

The actual starting point of the Lechtaler Höhenweg is the Stuttgarter Hütte. Heading east, you soon pass the Erlijoch at 2,430 metres between the Erlispitze and Fanggekarspitze peaks. Then you pass the Erlachalpe in the Almajurtal valley below the Valluga and finally the Stapfe-Tobel. Caution is advised here. This section is dangerous in snow and wet conditions, but can be bypassed via Erlachalpe and Bodenalpe. The Leutkircher Hütte on the rounded Almajurjoch offers comfortable overnight accommodation.
