Your legs are burning on the ascent! It's a good thing that you can cool off again in one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Zireiner See. And don't worry, the view of the Rofan tower will warm your heart again.
Stamina-demanding tour with a steep ascent to a beautiful mountain lake in the Rofan mountains. The striking Rofan tower on Lake Zirein is an impressive eye-catcher. On the descent, the circular tour takes you past two refreshment stops, each with sweeping views over the Inn Valley.
Ascent by car via Aschau to Wimm, past the Wimm farm to the barrier - this is where the parking lot is located. The hike now leads partly along forest roads and partly across alpine meadows to the alpine pasture area of Aschau (Eilalm, Labegg and Kreuzein) past Anderl's Hütte (refreshments available 45 minutes from the parking lot). At the Kreuzein Hochleger, the trail branches off uphill to Rosswies. From here it is a short downhill section to Lake Zireiner See. (3 h from the parking lot)
Once at the lake, just before the small stable, the "Gappsteig" leads uphill again to Rosswies, then straight on to Rosskogelsattel and a little steeper downhill to Berghaus Sonnwendjoch. (1 h 30 min from Zireiner See). From here, a beautiful path leads downhill to the Hochalm and then with only a few meters of ascent and descent over the "Hörndl" to the already known Kreuzein Hochleger, now on the familiar path back.
