Rundweg Obernberger See
****
Perhaps one of the most beautiful spots on earth in Tyrol, we think. Clear mountain lake turquoise, bright larch yellow and cool summit gray form the surreal backdrop that you will find at Lake Obernberg.
A short, steep but generally easy hike through the wild and romantic Obernbergtal valley and once around the Obernbergersee lake with great views of the Tribulaun. Especially recommended in autumn, when the surrounding larch forest turns golden.
Easy hike on wide paths with a walking time of about 2.5 h. The hike is ideal for an excursion with big & small children. The Obernberger See in the protected landscape area "Obernberger See - Tribulaune - Nösslachjoch" offers with its green-blue crystal clear water is an incredible sight. The mountain lake lies in a cauldron - on the right the Obernberger Tribulaun rises majestically and on the left is the Allerleigrubenspitze. At the far end of the lake is the Portjoch, which represents the border to Italy. The path leads from the car park comfortably along a forest path or across the alpine pastures to the lake and a well-marked path then runs along the lake shore around the lake.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION
From the starting point you first walk along a farm track until you get behind a bridge. From there you can either turn left and follow trail nr. 128 across the meadows past the Unterreins- and Oberreinsalm. Or you stay on the forest path and follow it to the lake. Both ways lead to the former Gasthaus am See. From there follow trail nr. 91 on the right along the lake shore until you reach a forest path at the rearmost point. Follow this path back to the Seegasthaus. At the end of the path you will find the picturesque little lake church "Maria am See". The descent is either along the farm track or the Wiesensteig back to the starting point.
TIP FROM THE AUTHOR
On nice days you should pack for a picnic and let your feet hang in the lake.
