Kemater Alm mountain hut
Although the name might suggest it, the Kemater Alm is not reached via Kematen, but via Grinzens. It is located at 1,646 metres in the wild and romantic Senderstal valley, right at the foot of the imposing Kalkkögel mountains. The Alm is a wonderful starting point for hikes and tours, both in summer and winter.
The hike begins at the start of the Sendersweg trail, idyllically situated next to a stream. The path leads steadily uphill through the beautiful landscape of the Sender Valley. Along the way, you pass several small chapels that invite you to stop and pause for a moment. Thanks to the toll road that leads from Grinzens to the alpine pasture, the Kemater Alm is also easily accessible in summer.
After a well-deserved break with delicious alpine food and a fantastic view of the Kalkkögel, you return along the same route. This hike combines enjoyment of nature, culinary highlights and an impressive mountain panorama - a perfect destination for nature lovers and connoisseurs!
