Mountain hikes Kaltenbach - Hochzillertal hiking region (1800m) Trail No. 33

Description

Head from the Kaltenbach train station out of the valley until you reach the Sparkasse bank. Turn left and head uphill from there. After passing St. Mary’s Chapel, the trail heads uphill until it opens up into the hiking trail toward the waterfall. The path climbs through the woods to the first junction where you turn left. Then the path leads uphill to the beginning of a meadow. The trail then heads from the edge of the meadow along the mountain road known as the Zillertaler Höhenstraße – head to the right and downhill from there and turn right and uphill at the next junction after approx. 250 m. Join the asphalt road as far as the Sattlerbauer farm. The meadow trail then leads directly from the farm to the edge of the forest. Stay on the hiking trail until it merges with the Höhenstraße road. After a short leg along the Höhenstraße, turn left and uphill again in the hiking trail. The trail will then cross several forest roads until it finally opens up into the Zillertaler Höhenstraße. Follow the Zillertaler Höhenstraße along the last leg until you reach the Kaltenbach ski hut. You can also catch the bus from the upper Zillertal valley hiking area to return to the starting point.
