Description

The ascent begins directly from the Innsbrucker Hütte over slabs partly secured with wire ropes. Then the trail continues westwards over a ridge rib and then up the side of the Pinnistal to the eastern corner of the summit structure. The trail is well marked and takes about 2.5 to 3 hours from the hut. Now you cross the small, flat and crevasse-free Habichtferner to the summit structure. The summit ridge, which is again secured with ropes, leads directly up to the summit. The freestanding summit offers a unique panoramic view of the Stubai Alps, the Northern Limestone Alps, the western Zillertal Alps and the Dolomites. WARNING! When descending in spring, do not descend over the firn field and the steep firn gully to the left of the descent path, as the gully breaks off extremely abruptly into rockfalls above the Pinnistal! (frequent accidents!!).
