Hungerburg via the Alpenzoo
This easy hike takes you from Innsbruck to the Hungerburg, a beautiful hill with a fantastic view.
The trail starts at Rennweg and first takes you over the Hans-Psenner-Steg, which crosses the Inn. On the opposite side of the road, follow the signs in the direction of ‘Fußweg Alpenzoo / Heinrich-Süß-Weg’.
Once you have passed the Alpenzoo, continue uphill on the Wilhelm-Greil-Weg in the direction of Hungerburg. Once you arrive at the Hungerburg, a fantastic view of Innsbruck awaits you. The picturesque view of the city and the surrounding mountains is a real treat, ideal for a short break or simply to take in the beauty of the Tyrolean landscape.
If you don't want to walk back to the city centre after your hike, you can easily take the Hungerburgbahn, which stops right in Innsbruck city centre and offers a comfortable return journey.
Tip: Take the opportunity to visit the Innsbruck Alpine Zoo, which is located directly on the way to the Hungerburg. The Alpine Zoo offers a unique view of the native animal world of the Alps. Here you can experience a variety of animals, including ibex, chamois, marmots and many other fascinating species native to the Alps. The zoo is set up in terraced areas, so you can also enjoy the marvellous views of the surrounding area as you stroll through the Alpine Zoo.
