"Hut" is almost a little misleading in the case of the Wedelhütte. Up here you will actually find accommodation of 5-star standard, excellent cuisine and matching wines from the hotel's own vaults.
Moderately difficult hike with a moderate ascent from the Zillertaler Höhenstraße through wide alpine pastures and valleys to the Wedelhütte, a luxurious hut of 5-star standard.
Starting point: Hirschbichlalm, 1,822 m (Zillertaler Höhenstraße, toll road)
A short distance to the left, west of the Hirschbichlalm, along the road, the marked trail branches off from the road uphill shortly after the alpine huts. Follow it across the wide alpine pastures of the Krössbrunnalm. After approx. 10 minutes, turn right onto the flat hiking trail at the fork - without crossing the stream and follow the varied marked hiking trail (1.5 h) through the valley basin to the Wedelhütte. The descent leads along the same path back to the starting point. Extension of the hike via the "Stoanmandlweg" or to the Marchkopf. Good bus/taxi connections from Zell!
