Description

This easy hike takes walkers to the top of the Hausberg mountain in Ellmau. It begins at the hiking info point in the village centre, which is only a few steps away from the refreshing “Kapellenpark” that heads up to the Marienkapelle. From here, you already have a wonderful view of Ellmau and the “Koasa” - as the locals refer to the Wilder Kaiser. Proceed with an uphill march along the root-covered trail until you reach the Naschberghof apartments. A forest hiking trail (which hosts the toboggan run in winter) then snakes its way up the Hausberg in a series of sharp bends. At the top, you can drop in to the Brenner Alm mountain hut or the Treichlhof refreshment stop and enjoy some hearty Tirolean fare. When it comes to making your way back, we recommend the “Astbergbahn” chairlift to anyone looking to head down into the valley in comfort.
