Hamberg (2095m) ab Gasthof Almluft (Weg Nr. 37)
****
If you want to stand on the local mountain of Stumm in the Zillertal and enjoy magnificent views, you should rub your calves vigorously, because the picturesque mountain trails are technically demanding.
2,095 meters high, freestanding, and a wonderful panoramic peak for this reason alone: the Hamberg is not an easy mountain to conquer, however, and the paths up and down are quite challenging. However, easy climbs are only required for an additional detour to the Standkopf. On the Hamberg, surefootedness is required, especially on the boulders in the summit area.
Starting from the Gasthof Almluft inn on Gattererberg, briefly head along the forest road until the hiking trail turns off to the right and into the forest. A number of hairpin bends lead you on a moderate ascent up to the Steinbergalm pasture (no refreshment options) and then back into the forest. You will cross the forest road several times during your journey. Below Hamberg mountain, you embark on a gentle hike across treeless terrain – with stone steps guiding you along the final few meters to the summit. The return journey goes back along the same route.
