Description

Departing from the hiking starting point Going center (former tourist information Going) (764 m), you should follow the Going Hausbach stream until you reach Raiffeisen Bank. Then turn left and go through the underpass. Turn left and follow Schwendterweg trail. Enjoy the panorama of the Wilder Kaiser before you reach a cluster of farms. The district of Schwendt is located on the Sonnenplateau. As you stand here among the farms, the close-up view of the Wilder Kaiser provides the perfect photo opportunity. Keep following the road towards the Wilder Kaiser. The trail merges into a gravel path that leads through the forest. The rushing of the stream keeps you company amid the pleasant peace and quiet. After the forest follow the asphalt street until a crossing. Turn left and after some meters you will see the Tannbichl car park. Go past the barriers and keep hiking along the trail in the direction of the Wilder Kaiser. After around 200 metres you will come to a basin that is fed by the sources of the Wilder Kaiser. Take your time and enjoy the feeling of refreshment. As you follow the forest road towards the Gaudeamushütte mountain hut, this will merge into a hiking path. This path will guide you through the well-shaded forest. The forest thins out shortly before you reach the Gaudeamushütte, providing a clear view of the Wilder Kaiser in all its might. The Gaudeamushütte is ideal for a first break. Then follow the sign “Gruttenhütte über Klammlweg”.  At the end of the trail you will reach the Gruttenhütte, the highest mountain hut in the Wilder Kaiser region, where you can enjoy the view and sense the power of the imposing Kaisergebirge mountain range. Once you have paused for a break, hike towards Wochenbrunner Alm heading down into the valley. Crossing a couple of fields of mountain pine before the trail merges into a forest trail, Wochenbrunner Alm. The wildlife park ensures that there is much to discover, particularly for children, while grown-ups can savour the culinary delights on offer. From now on you hike through the Spatlahnerklamm only downhill until you turn left towards the former Brennhütte. In front of this mountain hut is a path that leads into the forest in the direction of Going. At the end of this path, you will come to the small Blattlkapelle chapel. Once there, turn right and head past Blattlbauer farm. When you reach the Blattlhof hotel, the underpass will guide you to the other side of the road. Hike along the Auweg, following the path of the Going Hausbach stream until you are back at the starting point.
