Mountain hikes Fügen - Schlagalm - Hochfügen (Trail No. 22)

Description

Starting at Fügen tourist information office, this trail leads straight into the valley across the roundabout, past the Erlebnistherme Zillertal thermal baths, and through to Rischbachkapelle chapel. Once at the chapel, head right and follow the course of the stream until the route merges with St.-Pankraz-Weg road. This leads directly to the pilgrimage church on Pankrazberg (be sure to take a look inside!). Head back down along a small track, then follow the road when you come to the farm and cross the bridge in the direction of Kupfnerberg. A quiet, somewhat steep, and highly picturesque road leads up the Kupfnerberg along a number of hairpin bends. 
Head past the Oberhaus and Seehüter snack stations until you reach the Krapfenboden, where the wide forestry road (first asphalt, then gravel) branches off to the right at the junction and leads towards the Schlagalm pasture. This continuous ascent through the forest is well-shaded and easy to complete, taking in the Hölderalm, Schlagalm (1476 m), and Lumpereralm pastures – none of which feature any refreshment options – en route to the Huber-Winkelalm inn at 1370 m (dining tip!). Keep following the road uphill across the meadows, through the Keglalm pasture, and past the stables until you reach the gate. Here, the well-shaded Quellenweg trail branches off to the right into the forest and back to Hochfügen. You can also complete your return journey from Hochfügen by bus.
