Hike across the Alpine pastures and shower in Kaiser water!
This scenic mountain hike provides a burst of summer freshness in the Wilder Kaiser region. From the village, you should walk along Wegscheidbach stream up to the Jägerwirt inn. Continue past Wegscheid-Niederalm (no. 826) and take the footpath to Wegscheid-Hochalm. Keep walking uphill until you reach the Wilder-Kaiser-Steig trail (WKS no. 823) and briefly follow it heading west. Then turn towards the mountain and head in the direction of the waterfall – Treffauer – Tuxeck (no. 826). This part of the trail is more steep, but you will soon reach the waterfall. It is fed by the Schneekar cirque near the Sonneck mountain and gushes impressively out of the rock for around thirty metres. Suitably refreshed, you should now follow the trail to the Kaiser-Hochalm Alpine pasture with a fantastic view extending over the Kitzbühel Alps all the way to the Grossglockner. On the descent (trail no. 814), you will pass the Kaiseralm mountain hut before reaching the Jägerwirt once again and crossing the road to return to the village.
What’s special:
Reward yourself for making the ascent by taking an invigorating Kaiser shower in the waterfall!
All the Alpine pastures along this route offer picturesque options for taking a break, but there are no establishments that serve food.
