Good things take time: This applies to the ascent to the Erlanger Hütte, which is not technically demanding, but long. And it also applies to the food served at the hut. This is because head chef Christian Rimml is committed to the idea of slow food. As soon as you sit on the terrace with a plate of ibex ragout and enjoy the fabulous view alongside your meal, you know that the time invested is well spent.

Start at the Mure car park in the village center of Umhausen and walk through the Neudorf district. At the end of Neudorf, the path descends slightly to the Fundus Bridge. Cross this and continue straight along the wide forest road until you reach a junction. To the left, the path continues along the Fundustal to the Hintere Fundusalm and Frischmann Hut, and to the right to the Vordere Leierstalalm. Keep right and follow the marked trail to the Vordere Leierstalalm and further to the Erlanger Hut. The ascent from the Vordere Leierstalalm to the Erlanger Hut is difficult, going almost straight up.
The Erlanger Hut belongs to the Genussplatzlen. “Regional, seasonal, honest cuisine – what is available is enough!” is the motto. The Genussplatzlen are committed businesses that operate regionally and sustainably whenever possible. Learn more at www.oetztal.com/genussplatzlen
