Arrival by public transport
Regional bus stop Bach village
Madau lies at 1,308 m and offers peace and relaxation for the strenuous onward journey.
The first section is flat on the local road, then continues steeply up to the chapel.
Now your path becomes flat again and after a while you reach the junction to the Baumgartalm. Shortly afterwards, the Madauer Höhenweg also branches off in the direction of Alperschonbach.
Your actual part of the hike begins here, your path now also becomes narrow and you immediately reach the Madau gorge, which you cross via a footbridge. The path is relatively narrow in places and there are also some steep sections.
For the Madauer Höhenweg, you need to be sure-footed and should be experienced. If it is raining or wet, you should take the normal path to Madau, as it can be slippery.
The Madauer Höhenweg meets the goods road at the bridge over the Alperschonbach. The remaining part of the route is on the goods road to Madau.
