Impressive hike offering splendid views! Around Gratlspitze and back to Alpbach via the Hösljoch.
Gratlspitze is characterised by its special flora. During the hike, you can admire several native orchid species such as Turk's-head lilies and lady's slipper. Due to copper and silver mining up until the middle of the 19th century, Gratlspitze has always been of importance.
The tour starts in the Alpbach village centre, where - passing the church on the left - the A6 trail leads swiftly uphill to Hausberg and further on to the Almausschank "Bischofer Käsalm" and on to the Bischofer Joch. From here you have a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. Continue your hike without any appreciable difference in altitude until you reach the Holzalm mountain inn. After 3 hours, you are halfway along the trail and can treat yourself to good rest.
Hike past the old ore mining area and the "Kaiserbründl" towards the Hösl pond. From there follow the A23 hiking trail downhill to the Kneipp facility and turn right onto the Alpbach Heimatweg (A3). The beautiful "Lärchenweg" leads past the Thierberg farms and steeply downhill to the starting point in Alpbach.
Tip: this route is also offered as a guided tour!
This guided tour is free of charge with the Alpbachtal Card!
