The Alpenrosensteig leads mostly above the tree line through the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena, from Ehrwald to Lake Heiterwang.

Only the western part in the area Zingerstein - Schärtle, leads in easy climbing through rocky terrain and requires a secure footing and a head for heights.
It is advisable to walk individual sections of this tour and possibly combine them with a summit ascent. No matter in which place you start or finish this tour, with the Ausserfernbahn you can easily get back to your starting point.
