From Landeck-Zams train station, take line 250 to the Starkenbach Kapelle stop
The Steinsee hides from all too greedy eyes until the very last moment. Only those who can motivate themselves to hike half an hour up the mountain after a refreshment stop will be able to enjoy this clear mountain lake.
Moderately difficult hike through the pristine Starkenbach valley and past the Steinseehütte hut to the Steinsee lake. The entire route runs along the Starkenbach and offers great views of the stream. Wonderful swimming opportunities in the considerably large Steinsee lake and a recommended stop at the Steinseehütte on the descent.
From the car park Alfutz you first go over the bridge and then right on the trail comfortable direction "Ruhebankl". From there, the trail leads steeply through mountain pine towards Steinseehütte. From the Steinseehütte one is in about 50 minutes at the Steinsee and the nearby via ferrata and climbing Steinsee.
TIP: The Alfutzalm can be reached from the Zams gravel works by e-bike in 45 minutes and on foot in approx. 02:30.
