Aldrans - Tummelplatz - Innsbruck (2,13)
Start in the village centre of Aldrans and follow the Bahnhofweg in a westerly direction towards the Igler Bahn train stop. About 100 metres before this, the path to Innsbruck branches off to the right, leading steadily downhill into the town.
You will come across several places worth seeing along the way:
Tantegert forest moor: This moorland area of around 1.5 hectares on Amraser Paschberg has been revitalised in recent years. Along the path you will find a Celtic tree circle with 21 different tree species as well as numerous benches where you can take a break.
Ambras Castle: The walk offers a view of Ambras Castle, an important cultural monument with an impressive collection of art and armouries.
Tummelplatz: This historic woodland cemetery to the west of Ambras Castle was originally used as a riding arena for the horses of the princely palace estate. It was converted into a military cemetery in 1797.
Brenner motorway and Bretterkeller inn: After passing under the Brenner motorway, you reach the traditional Bretterkeller inn, which invites you to stop for a bite to eat.
Inntal motorway and Sill: Continue along the Inntal motorway to the Sill, a tributary of the Inn where the hike ends.
From the Bretterkeller stop, take the forest railway line 6 back to Aldrans.
