Mountain hikes 3-peak-tour Kienberg-Plessenberg-Heuberg

Difficulty ratings: medium
Route length: 8.6 km
Duration: 4:30 h

You don't do three peaks on one tour every day. And deep views of the Inn Valley and at the same time distant views as far as the glaciated main Alpine ridge are not something you get on all tours. With this tour suggestion, both rarities are the rule.

Tour character

Even the approach to Brandenberg is worth seeing, in the Brandenberg basin the world is simply still in order. The tour begins on a beautiful forest path at the Pumphaus parking lot, which is quite strenuous and steep. The effort is forgotten by the time you reach the (unmanaged) Jocheralm, which is in an exceptionally beautiful location. Between the three peaks, the terrain is more open and most of the time the paths lead through fields of mountain pines. The transition between Heuberg and Plessenberg requires surefootedness and a head for heights. This tour should definitely be undertaken when visibility is good, the view from the three peaks on a clear autumn day is fantastic!

Description

If you are looking for an adventure in the mountains, then this tour is just right for you! The starting point is the Pumphaus parking lot! From here, the trail leads to the Jocheralm, a picturesque place, ideal for a first break after about 45 minutes of walking. Then continue along a path in the direction of Kienberg. The ascent to the summit is quite feasible and rewards you with a breathtaking view from the summit cross of the Kienberg after around 50 minutes. From there, you can admire the Rofan and Karwendel mountains, the Guffert and the Kitzbühel and Zillertal Alps.

The descent follows the same route to the first fork in the trail below the summit. Turn left there and follow the ridge path towards Plessenberg, which has only a slight difference in altitude. From the summit cross of the Plessenberg you also have a fantastic view of the Inntal valley and the mountains of the Kitzbühel and Zillertal Alps, as far as the Hohe Tauern with the Großglockner and Großvenediger.

You return along the same path to below the summit, then take a short uphill section at the saddle (be sure-footed here!) in the direction of Heuberg. From here, hike straight downhill over the ridge to the Jocheralm. For the way back, you can either take the same route or take a leisurely hike on the forest road back to the starting point.

This tour not only offers spectacular views, but also a good mix of challenge and relaxation.

Refreshment stops:

There are no refreshment stops along the entire tour. So take enough water to drink and a snack with you! In the valley in Brandenberg, you can stop off at the Hotel Neuwirt or the Gasthof Ascherwirt to reflect on the day.
