Downhill & Trails

MTB region in check: Innsbruck

The Bikepark Innsbruck is located not far from the provincial capital in the Muttereralm area and can be reached quickly and easily by public transport or with a bike park shuttle*. The bike park is just a few minutes from the city centre.

Arrival

By car:

Take the Innsbruck-Süd motorway exit and follow the signs to Mutters. As you cross the village of Mutters, look out for the signs for "Muttereralm-Bahn" and turn left. Follow the road until you reach the valley station (Nockhofweg 40).

By public transport:

The Stubai Valley Railway (STB) takes you comfortably from Innsbruck to just below the valley station (Nockhof stop) every 30 minutes; the last 600 metres and 75 metres in altitude have to be mastered on your own. So you arrive at Bikepark Innsbruck already warmed up and nothing stands in the way of a great day!

*With the bike shuttle: In July and August there is a free bike shuttle from Innsbruck (loading zone in front of the Landestheater) directly to the bike park.

Trails

The Bikepark Innsbruck was opened in 2016 and has since greatly expanded its offerings. From a flow trail for children and beginners, which is also fun for everyone else, to a jumpline - all bike enthusiasts will find something to do here. A look at the trail map pays off twice over if you want to make the most of everything on offer, as some routes are only accessible via connecting trails.

There is no flow trail that is fun for pros and beginners alike? Not so at Bikepark Innsbruck. With Canadian flair, "The Chainless One" leads through a beautiful coniferous forest into the valley with numerous berms and smaller jumps. On the long descent, break spots invite you to take a short break or switch to another line. On the flow trail, you will find the turn-offs to "The Shot One 1" or the jumpline.

The Bikepark Innsbruck offers numerous natural trails for all cracks and pros. A particular highlight is definitely the downhill trail "The Straight One". The downhill line is known from the Crankworx tour stop in Innsbruck, among other things, and inspires with its racing character. As with all black lines, you should take a look at one or two of the features before you ride it to make sure you are well prepared.

As a step up from the Crankworx Dowhnill course, "The Rough One" offers even more action - the name says it all. This trail branches off to Götzens, so you can take the Nockspitzbahn cable car back to the Bikepark Innsbruck (note: this option is only available at weekends!).

Accommodation & Service

An excellent infrastructure is undoubtedly one of the biggest plus points for a mountain bike holiday in the city. Innsbruck, as one of the top destinations in Europe, fulfils all expectations of a lively and modern city. In addition to a rich cultural programme and numerous restaurants and bars, Innsbruck offers a wide range of accommodation options in various price categories.

Those who choose Innsbruck and its surrounding holiday villages as their destination for a mountain bike holiday will benefit from all these urban amenities. There is a range of quality-checked accommodation specially geared towards cyclists and mountain bikers, with a balanced sportsman's breakfast, maps, a practical bike wash facility, secure bike storage and information on local bike shops, hire stations and workshops - all of which come as standard.

The selection of specialised bike shops and workshops in Innsbruck is also impressive. Whether you want to hire a bike, take part in a guided tour or need technical support - the variety on offer is remarkable.

Tips

After-Workride on Wednesday! In the summer months of July and August, the Muttereralm cable car runs every Wednesday until 20:00. Here you can enjoy a few runs after work and a cool drink or two at sunset. For a relaxing break in the sun, it is recommended to walk up from the mountain station to the reservoir in just five minutes. Once there, you can enjoy the view over the town and the Inn Valley and recharge your batteries for further descents.

Conclusion

The Muttereralm cable cars have steadily expanded their range in recent years and now offer their visitors a bike park that leaves nothing to be desired. As the trails are constantly being expanded and the existing ones updated, regular guests also get their money's worth.

A special highlight is the combination of the Muttereralm cable car and the Götzens mountain railway. This combination gives bikers the opportunity to also use the trails on the Nockspitzbahn cable car at the weekend. As the Nockspitzbahn in Götzens has its own car park, you can also access the Bikepark Innsbruck from there.
