A tour of the Kitzbüheler Horn that should be started in the early hours of the morning, especially in summer! The wonderful panorama and the stop at the Hornköpflhütte reward the effort of the crisp 1000 m ascent.
From the centre of Fieberbrunn, follow the cycle path along the Ache river in the direction of St. Johann i.T. until you reach the Wolkenmoos / Kitzbüheler Horn turn-off after approx. 6 km on the left. Start of tour 254.
The ascent is initially on an asphalt road and then continues on a gravel path. Up to an altitude of about 1000 m you go through the forest, then along a mountain ridge with wonderful panoramic views. The approx. 60 m descent to the lower Raintalalm is quickly completed, before the route continues over many serpentines up the gravel road into the Raintal towards the Hornköpflhütte (refreshment stop!). End of tour 254 (12.6 km / 1,096 m / difficult).
From the hut, tour 255 leads past the reservoir down to the Trattalm and then to the asphalted toll road "Kitzbüheler Horn". Take the toll road down to the Hornbahn cable car. Here turn right onto the Leukental cycle path "No. 20" and follow it via Kitzbühel and Oberndorf to St. Johann i.T.. Ride through the village past the church, continue to the main road and turn left over the bridge. Then turn right onto the Achendamm and cycle back to Fieberbrunn via the cycle path.
By bus: Bus connection from Ellmau / Kitzbühel / St. Johann i.T. / Lofer and within the PillerseeTal region. Bus stop St. Johann in Tirol / Mühlbachbrücke (3 min to the Wolkenmoos junction). Free of charge with guest card. Limited bicycle transport possible.
By train: Train connection from Wörgl to Hochfilzen (regional trains). Free of charge with guest card. Fieberbrunn railway station. Journey time to the Wolkenmoos junction is approx. 15 min.
