Patscherkofel summit (501)
For many, the most beautiful viewpoint in Innsbruck! This tour gets to the heart of the matter, leading from Igls over the Patscher Alm, the Patscherkofel Schutzhaus, and the mountain station of the Patscherkofel cable car. Finally, the route continues over the Zirbenwald boundary to the 360-degree summit of Patscherkofel with its characteristic ORF transmission station and the radar of Innsbruck Airport. The very cozy summit room in the former mountain station of the summit lift is only open in summer or during good weather. From the summit, the view stretches far over the main alpine ridge, the Zillertal Alps, the Stubai Alps, the Serles, the Stubai Glacier, the Wipptal and its side valleys. To the north, the view reaches far into the Karwendel, to the Nordkette, in the west to the Zugspitze and the Tyrolean Oberland, and to the east far into the Tyrolean Unterland up to the Wilder Kaiser.
WARNING: At Patscherkofel, the weather can change very quickly, and it can become very stormy and icy in exposed areas. Always check the weather forecast and bring changeable clothing. The summit room is also closed.
Tips: For locals in Innsbruck, this tour with a start in the city is considered one of the major challenges: 1,600 meters of elevation need to be tackled steadily uphill. Bike transport is possible with tram line "6" or the "Peak-to-Peak" bus "J."
