The wonderful panoramic ride high above Inneralpbach creates memories that will stay with you forever. This demanding segment has a total pedalled elevation gain of nearly 930 meters. Moreover, you will need a good level of fitness on the descent from Hornboden down to Inneralpbach as well – there you will hit a couple of S bends and you will be faced with steep pitches, which require full commitment.
Trail description: take the Wiedersbergerhornbahn gondola to the top station and to Hornboden mountain restaurant. From there, the trail passes under the gondola for a short section, before heading southwards and down a slope bringing you to Moserbaumgartenalm at 1,603 m. The trail continues to Inneralpbach. Shortly after having reached the first houses turn off to the right and continue on this road with a gradual climb towards the southeast. Having passed the Buam Chapel, take the left fork and cross the bridge to the north. Here is the start of a long stretch of climbing that takes you up to the highest part of the trail, 1,680 meters above sea level. The route starts with a paved road that turns onto a dirt road and becomes a singletrack in the end. Carry on the singletrack that crosses a slope on its way towards Thierbach. From there, a paved road winds down to the valley to Mühltal and a final, short climb followed by a gentle descent brings you to Niederau.
