In the alpine village of Eng, seemingly endless expanses open up, with only mountains and sky above. The alpine pastures also stretch out extra-large, dotted with centuries-old mountain maples.
Ten farmers from the Tyrolean Lower Inn Valley are the hosts at the Eng-Alm in Hinterriss/Naturpark Karwendel. Together they look after their alpine pastures, the alpine village with its pretty huts and the Großer Ahornboden. They also own the cheese dairy in the alpine village. This is where they deliver the fresh mountain milk in the morning and evening after milking, from which the famous Enger Bergkäse cheese is made. The journey via the toll road by car or bus is not a sacrilege, as the Almdorf is the starting point for many beautiful hikes.
From the car park Eng in the rear Risstal valley, the tour leads over asphalt through the alpine village in the Eng. First, the route travels over meadows before it follows the forest road to the Binsalm (1,502 metres). The return is via the same route. If you want to go higher, leave your bike behind and walk to the Lamsenjoch to the west. Continue to the Lamsenjochhütte mountain hut (1,953 metres) and enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the rugged Karwendel mountains.
