Mountainbike-Tour 4019 Kaltenbach - Kapaunsalm

Description

The trail from Kaltenbach to the Tannenalm inn is described in detail in Tour 480. The forest trail heading to the Kapaunsalm starts on the last bend before the inn (large car park). A long and exhausting climb leads through the wide forest belt. The path meanders some 8.5 km with an almost constant gradient (but without becoming really steep) up to the inn. The higher you get, the more frequently the lovely views down into the valley open up. Just before the inn you leave the forest completely behind and can now enjoy an unrestricted view of the rearmost Zillertal valley. The Kapaunsalm consists of several buildings, some of them very rustic, surrounded by lush alpine meadows. The small inn is a good place for a refreshment stop, and you can enjoy a hearty snack on the cosy terrace as well as admire the stunning views of the Zell am Ziller ski resort. As the inn lies at almost 2000m above sea level, you should also remember to pack a few warmer items of clothing even in summer.
