Thanks to the guaranteed snow due to the high altitude of the Paznaun Valley, the cross-country ski trails in Galtür and Ischgl are snow-sure from the beginning of December until well into spring, offering plenty of fresh mountain air even at spring-like temperatures at 2,000 metres above sea level and therefore ideal conditions for Nordic winter sports enthusiasts. Free use of the cross-country ski trails and the free ski bus throughout the valley round off the cross-country skiing offer in Paznaun.
The altitude of the Paznaun Valley between Ischgl and Galtür makes cross-country skiing particularly attractive here. The network of trails stretches up to over 2,000 metres above sea level. The Silvretta - Bielerhöhe high-altitude trail, for example, starts in the Galtür hamlet of Wirl and leads to the impressive Silvretta reservoir at 2,040 metres. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts who can't get enough can make their tracks on the floodlit night trail from Galtür to Wirl even after sunset.
The panorama terrace at the Hotel Almhof in Galtür is particularly cosy and inviting. It is all the more practical that the Galtür-Wirl cross-country ski trail runs right past it. Cross-country skiers who want to take a break here can look forward to warming dishes with ingredients from regional agriculture. The Almhof cheese fondues with the family's own alpine cheese are highly recommended.
Cross-country skiing holidaymakers can enjoy luxury and plenty of space at Chasa Valletta in Ischgl. There, close to the valley station of the Pardatschgratbahn cable car, luxury flats are on offer. There are numerous sports shops in the immediate vicinity where cross-country skis can be hired or waxed. Those who prefer a more informal atmosphere can book a room or holiday flat at Haus Hubertus in Galtür. Cross-country skiers are also well catered for here - for example with a ski room including waxing facilities and a drying service for cross-country clothing.
