Both skaters and fans of the classic style will find the right trails for them in the picturesque mountain valley between the Chiemgau Alps in the north and the Kaiser Mountains in the south. The Kaiserwinkl region is one of the premium cross-country skiing centres in Tyrol and has been awarded the cross-country skiing seal of approval by the state, which not only demonstrates a varied network of trails, but also a high standard. If there is not enough natural snow available, a snowmaking system on two loops of the cross-country ski trails provides additional snow. The kilometres of trails are almost equally divided between the two styles and use of the trails is free of charge. With the Kaiserwinkl Card, which all guests receive free of charge at their accommodation, use of the regional buses is also free.
If you are new to cross-country skiing or want to improve your skills, you should visit the cross-country skiing school in Kössen. The eight-kilometre-long lake trail that runs along Lake Walchsee is also ideal for beginners.
Cross-country skiing enthusiasts, both locals and guests, can also pursue their hobby in the evening. In order to guarantee quality, we ask that you only use the trails designated as night trails (snow-covered trail Walchsee & section Hochauloipe Kössen - sports field section) with a headlamp at the specified times. The cross-country ski trail sections are only groomed after 9.00 pm and are therefore available for use.
