The most beautiful cross-country skiing regions in Tyrol include the Achensee region with its picturesque lake trails, the Wipptal valley with its unspoilt nature, the Tyrolean Oberland with Nauders and the Kaunertal valley for sporting challenges, the idyllic Tannheimertal valley, the Seefeld Olympic region as an international hotspot, Paznaun-Ischgl with cross-country trails at high altitudes, the Ötztal with impressive mountain scenery, East Tyrol with pure nature, the Pillerseetal with Hochfilzen as a cross-country centre, the Kitzbühel Alps around the Hohe Salve and the Kaiserwinkl with a network of cross-country trails for every level.
Among the many popular cross-country skiing regions in Tyrol, there are eleven regions that stand out in particular: The Achensee region, the Wipptal, the Tyrolean Oberland with Nauders and the Kaunertal, the Tannheimertal, the Seefeld region, Paznaun-Ischgl, the Ötztal, East Tyrol, the Pillerseetal with Hochfilzen, the Kitzbühel Alps around the Hohe Salve and the Kaiserwinkl. They can call themselves "Tyrolean cross-country skiing specialists". At the forefront is the cross-country skiing seal of approval from the state of Tyrol, which guarantees the corresponding quality standard. In addition, they offer a varied and snow-sure network of trails at least 50 kilometres long. A good infrastructure is just as important as competent service, cross-country skiing courses for all ability levels, quality-tested cross-country skiing accommodation and ski schools and hire centres. Tyrol's most snow-sure cross-country skiing regions are characterised by their altitude and special snow conditions. The Olympiaregion Seefeld guarantees guaranteed snow thanks to trails up to 1,500 metres and state-of-the-art snowmaking technology. The Pillerseetal with Hochfilzen as a biathlon Mecca impresses with its high altitude and snowy winters. The Achensee region offers guaranteed snow with cross-country ski trails up to 1,200 metres along the picturesque lake and in the Karwendel valleys. In the high-altitude main ridge regions of Ötztal and Paznaun-Ischgl, high-altitude cross-country trails offer cross-country skiing fun right into spring. East Tyrol, known for its unspoilt nature, scores with high-altitude trails, for example in Obertilliach and Defereggen Valley, where snow is also guaranteed.
