Description

At the foot of the Serles, one of the most beautiful and popular panoramic mountains in Tyrol, runs the approx. 17km long "Wipptal-Stubai" high-altitude cross-country ski trail, which can be used to reach the villages of Gleins as well as the ski area of the "Serlesbahnen" in the Stubaital. A shorter alternative is the Matreier Ochsenalmrunde (approx. 5km), which is just below the Maria Waldrast mountain monastery. Along the entire route, cross-country skiers enjoy magnificent views of the Wipptal valley.
The starting point for the classic-style trails is the Maria Waldrast monastery, whose monastery inn invites you to stop for a bite to eat. In a loop over the Matreier Ochsenalm, the circuit leads either back to the monastery or around the "Waldrasterjöchl", past the "Gleinser Mähder" and the skiing area of the Serlesbahnen (Stubai) and on to the monastery inn and starting point "Maria Waldrast".
