The best culinary shops with regional products in Tyrol

Since 2001, master confectioner Hansjörg Haag has been producing "Tiroler Edle" in Landeck - a chocolate made from Tyrolean grey cow's milk and refined with local products. Craftsmanship meets regionality - the result: real chocolate treasures from Tyrol.

A Tyrolean snack without cheese? Unimaginable! But how is cheese actually made? You can find out in a vivid and entertaining way at Austria's first show dairy in the Zillertal.

Quality and environmental awareness: This is the focus of the family-run Plangger cheese dairy in Niederndorf. Natural cheese production begins with the feed for the animals and ends with the maturing process in a gigantic rock cellar, which has space for five to six hundred tonnes of hard and semi-hard cheese.

Butter, sugar, eggs and wheat flour: the ingredients of the Tyrolean Prügeltorte are no secret, but it takes a lot of experience, skill and knowledge to make this crispy-sweet pastry. The Mader family in Kramsach are particularly good at this.

At Plangger Delikatessen, indulgence is a top priority - and has been for more than 100 years. In 1915, Johann Plangger, the grandfather of the current owner, opened a grocery store in Pfunds in the Landeck district. The delicatessen now has several locations in Tyrol - from the Oberland to the Ötztal.

Hard to believe, but true: the Kuenzhof in Dölsach in East Tyrol is now in its 12th generation of distilling schnapps. In addition to more than 40 brandies and liqueurs, the brothers Johannes and Florian Kuenz have also been producing gin and Tyrolean single malt whisky for several years.

The Mair family is fully committed to the world of fruit: Strawberries, raspberries, redcurrants, gooseberries, blackberries and many other sweet fruits thrive on an area of seven hectares in their berry garden in Rietz in the Oberinntal valley.

Instead of selling from the farm, you could call it selling from the lake: The Fischladele on Weidachsee in Leutasch sells freshly caught freshwater fish such as trout and char.

Not only a feast for the palate, but also a feast for the eyes: Valier's cakes, tarts, desserts and petits fours are known and loved far beyond Innsbruck.

A clever name and a range from A to Z, from apple strudel to Swiss stone pine oil: in the shop with a twist in Berwang you will find tasty and beneficial products from the region.

The soft cheese from the organic dairy in Kolsass enjoys an excellent reputation. A total of around 75,000 kg of milk is processed into cheese here every year - using only silage-free hay milk and purely organic ingredients.
