Here, they don't just play a role in the background - on the contrary: in Patsch, the carnival belongs to the girls and women when they parade with their bells once again.
Since 1958, the Patscher Schellenschlagen has been celebrated not only as a carnival custom, but also as a women's holiday. This is a special feature among the male-dominated carnival customs in Tyrol. During their performance, the Schellenschlagerinnen carry the bell in their own hands and not on a belt like many other carnival performers. The Schellenschlagerinnen's hat, satchel and larva are usually handed down from generation to generation or lent to the next generation.
