From grandchildren to grandparents: Almost half the village is on its feet when it's Passion Play time again in Erl. They inspire audiences from all over the world with their passion.
With their commitment, 600 people from Erl and the surrounding area ensure that the Passion Play attracts tens of thousands of spectators every six years. This "village community project" has a very long tradition. According to tradition, an Easter play was performed in Erl as early as 1613. The real passion of the villagers for their Passion Play makes this event a cultural highlight. Biblical texts are interpreted in a contemporary way by amateur actors and performed in the modern Passion Play house in the idyllically situated village.
