Event Axamer Wampelerreiten

It is considered one of the most brutal carnival customs in Tyrol: the Wampelerreiten is when the "rider" tries to wrestle down the "Wampeler". The job of the Wampeler is quite strenuous. Equipped only with a stick and padded with straw, he has to try to get through the village as "white" as possible while stooping and dancing.
